In this pilot, Voltfox enabled Siemens to move beyond outdated annual emission estimates and access hour-by-hour visibility into their electricity-related carbon footprint. This shift delivered a more than 30% improvement in emission accuracy, revealing major blind spots in traditional calculation methods.

Key insights unlocked:

• Hourly carbon emissions tracking gave Siemens a sharper lens on energy-related emissions, enabling proactive, rather than reactive, sustainability management.
• Two-thirds of electricity consumption at a Siemens facility during the analysis period was matched to renewable production, a key milestone for 24/7 carbon-free energy.
• Emissions were reduced by over 60% after matching with existing renewable generation and applying targeted I-REC purchases.

But this was more than a data exercise, it laid the foundation for smarter decisions going forward.

Using Voltfox, Siemens gained operational tools to:

• Pinpoint exact I-REC requirements before purchasing, avoiding over- or under-procurement
• Measure daily, weekly, and monthly consumption rates of RECs versus facility demand
• Visualize CO₂ emissions reductions tied to RECs and track progress against internal climate targets
• Analyze carbon intensity trends throughout the day, optimizing energy use in low-carbon periods

This collaboration showcased how Voltfox can move companies from static, retrospective accounting to dynamic, forward-looking decision-making . unlocking new levels of transparency and control.
